The royal wedding seems to be everywhere this morning and I can’t help but be transfixed by the pomp and circumstance of it all. I’m a huge sap for weddings as it is—I always get butterflies thinking about all of the emotions and love that fills the day. A royal wedding has all of that, plus carriages! and tiaras! and real princes and princesses! What more could a girl ask for?
For what it’s worth I thought Kate Middleton looked spot-on. Her dress was beautiful but timeless, and appropriate but interesting. Her veil—oh, her veil!—complemented the dress and the to-die-for vintage Cartier tiara beautifully. Kate—err, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge—somehow managed to look fit for a queen while staying modern and true to her style. But while I could gush about Kate for days, the true highlight of the wedding for me was the headwear. I have a slight obsession with fascinators and the royal wedding guests gave me just the show I was looking for. My favorites are below. Now I’m off to plot a friendship with an engaged Brit so that I have an excuse to wear one of my own!!
Lady Frederick Windsor, the daughter-in-law of the Duke and Duchess of Kent
Zara Phillips, Princess Anne’s daughter (and Will’s cousin)
Charlene Wittstock, wife of Prince Albert II of Monaco (doesn’t she look like she’s going to the horse races?)
Miriam Gonzalez, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg (this reminds me of a 20’s-era flamenco dancer!)
P.S. How great is the name Pippa? Wasn’t her dress beautiful too?! Ahh, I could go on and on…
