I went straight from Camp Pecometh to my parent’s house at the beach. Not because I didn’t want to track the camp dirt into my own home (which I didn’t), but because I have the week off of work, and who wouldn’t want to spend it with this view? Early mornings at the beach make me feel small in the best way possible.
A pie and a beer from Bagby Pizza Company in Harbor East. If you haven’t tasted their thin crust in all of its gooey, crispy perfection, add it to your summer to-do list.
Hope you all have a great long weekend and a warm kick-off to the summer season. It feels like it came so quick—and I know it will be gone just as fast—so let’s all soak it in and enjoy every second of the bbqs, sunshine and fresh fruit. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite posts this week:
- I thought it was silly at first, but hearing what Maggie and her readers learned from Oprah turned out to be a pretty endearing reminder of some important life lessons. What has Oprah taught you?
- This made me laugh out loud (some days I can’t help but agree).
- I want to drink one of these this weekend.
- Lisa’s post on the HGTV green home made me drool.
I am drooling over Alice’s corn. She grills skewered corn halves and then sprinkles them with cojita cheese, lime juice and plenty of hot sauce. She recommends you eat it with lots of napkins. I just recommend that you make some and share them with me. Immediately.

If you’re hearing some background noise on this page, please don’t be alarmed. It’s just me, breathing a huge sigh of relief, after submitting the final projects for my two very intense summer courses. The tough part of summer is over, and tomorrow Scott and I leave for our road trip up north. I can’t wait to get out on an open road and really enjoy summertime.

Today’s sunny skies have me dreaming of summer barbecues…I just can’t wait for long warm nights to spend outdoors eating and laughing with friends. My home is fairly small and gets crowded quickly during a party, but my patio can accommodate a pretty big group. I am dying to fix it up and have been prowling the Web all month for comfy patio sets. This one from Crate & Barrel is my favorite–I can just picture my friends sprawled around it on summer nights, eating and laughing and looking at the lightning bugs.
